The Golden Gate Bridge Has Gone to the Dogs, Cats and Geckos

Share

You'd be hard pressed to find a Bay Area denizen who didn't have a soft spot in their heart for our beloved Golden Gate Bridge -- an art-deco marvel that turns 75 this Sunday, May 27th.

For me as a photographer the bridge has served as backdrop for more shots than I can count (no, shooting it never gets old) So, on its diamond anniversary I thought it would be cool to do something special and see if I can photograph 75 pets in front of the bridge or its likeness before the end of the year.

The trick is to add enough variety of both animals and angles to keep it interesting and so far it's going pretty well  with a nice mix of dogs and cats as well as a parrot and a gecko. Yep, a gecko. With May just about behind us I'm 1/3 of the way there with 50 more to go.

I'm also working with Pet Food Express and Friends of San Francisco Animal Care and Control to turn this into a bit of a fund-raiser for Friends. Donations made to Friends of $250 or more in the name of a pet whether they were rescued from SF Animal Care and Control or not will get you a Golden Gate Bridge session with me and a big poster of your pet to be hung at the PFE of your choice -- plus you get the poster after it comes down at the store.

If you'd like to see your dog, cat, bunny, bird,  or snake in front of an international icon and help out a lot of animals in need at the same time contact me and I'll tell you how to make it happen. See some of my favorites below and check out all the shots so far on this nifty online gallery.

You really need to publish a photo book of animals and the Golden Gate Bridge. It would sell like hotcakes! [I would buy one!] These are wonderful images that combine the iconic bridge, so regal and elegant, with the fun loving animals!
